Optical Practice at the Mignot Memorial Hospital

Visiting optical practice on Alderney

Our modern consulting rooms at the hospital are equipped to the same high standard that you expect of any UK High Street optician.

We offer eye examinations for spectacles and contact lenses.

At least 120 different styles of frames are on display and you can choose from budget to the latest designer brands. If your spectacles need repairing we can take care of that too. Your spectacles or contact lenses will normally be ready for fitting / collection at our next fortnightly visit. Alternatively, we can post out earlier if required.

New retinal digital photography

The advanced way to check the health of your eyes

Retinal digital photographyFollowing investment in new, state of the art equipment at our consulting rooms at the hospital, we can now offer our Alderney patients amazingly detailed retinal photography.

With this camera we can take photographs of the back of your eye (the retina) which allows us to carry out a more detailed examination.

By examining (and then storing) the large captured image it helps us diagnose the health and condition of your eyes or identify any diseases. Abnormalities that show up in the retina can also point to other health problems and might mean we recommend you see your GP to discuss the findings.

Taking the photograph is totally safe and completely painless with the image captured in just a few seconds – nothing touches your eyes.

Taking the photograph will give us a permanent and accurate record of the condition of your eyes, stored on our computer, allowing us to compare images and look for any changes. This is a great advantage and will prove invaluable in monitoring your eye health.
