Loupes are magnifying aids, which are basically a magnifying glass lens mounted in an eyepiece, and are used in a number of diverse industries where magnification is required.

Jewelry is the obvious example, and for this reason many people refer to loupe's as "jewelers loupes" or "Jewelry loupes" however there are a number of other industries where loupes are used, including dentistry, surgery, watchmaking, entomology & geology.

Jewelers Loupe

Jewelers usually use monocular style hand loupes to magnify stones & gems. 10x magnification loupes are commonly used by jewelers to inspect diamonds and other gemstones.

Dentistry Loupes

Dentistry Loupes are basically safety / none splash spectacles fitted with binocular style magnifier loupes, and can come with or without lamps to illuminate the field of vision. Some dentistry loupes even come with mounted video camera's.

Geology Loupes

Geology Loupes are hand held magnifiers used in the field, for magnifying rocks & minerals, and usually fold into plastic casing for protection. Some geology loupes have two (doublet), or three (triplet) lenses, which double or triple the magnification when required.

Surgical Loupes

Surgical loupes are extremely high quality medical grade pieces of equipment, used by doctors to enable them to see what they're doing while performing surgery. They are usually fitted with LED lights, and can be fitted with video camera's.
